KX ™ 450F
A lean, stronger and EFI equipped racing thoroughbreds
Completely re-designed with a new fuel injection engine, chassis, body and durability improvements, the 2009 Kawasaki KX 450F motocross ™ is brighter, faster and more high-tech than ever. Although he suffered the greatest transformation since its original inception in 2006, the new KX450F still shares a clear line with his championship-winning predecessors.
The upgrade to Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) eliminates the need to adjust the engine parameters depending on the track and weather conditions and stable supply of fuel measure, even in difficult-motocross without sacrificing beat the hardest of his predecessor. The new EFI system includes a compact lightweight ECU, a 43mm intake manifold, a newly designed lightweight aluminum in-tank fuel pump and an ultra-fine atomizing injector. Set at an angle of 45 degrees for ideal midrange power, the 12-hole injector sprays precise 60 microns for particles of fuel delivery engine power and improved response to gas.
Designed specifically for motocross, the KX450F light EFI system does not require battery-the engine can be started within three rotations of the crankshaft, using only the electricity produced by the kickstart. Kawasaki engineers made unique ability to start by having the ECU power-up to the first movement of kickstart. The system provides electricity in the following order: ECU, fuel pump and injector.
The EFI system of rising electricity needs are provided by a new alternator largest rotor, which also increases the engine of the rotational inertia. A revamped and lighter crankshaft, with its rotational inertia unchanged, balances on the largest rotor CAG. A wedge-shaped crank web increases the time of compensation to help achieve a balance crankshaft factor of almost 60 per cent. It is on an equal footing with the factory Kawasaki riders. The end result of these changes is reduced vibration of the engine, the soft power delivery and a noticeable improvement in throttle response low rpm.
The new engine is more compact and lightweight, with a cylinder of 5 mm shorter than the head also revised intake and exhaust to improve engine performance through the whole range rpm. A new piston with a top surface shaped the installation of engine compression 12.0 to 12.5:1 and works with a new piece of exhaust pipe titanium for better low-medium range performance. Rounding improvements powertrain is a volume larger silent as the body able to meet future noise regulations. It uses long-fiber packing lasts longer and extends the intervals.
Overall, the new KX450F great power comes in a smoother, easier to use in a linear fashion with a low response of gas rpm and torque delivery that reduces fatigue and allows riders to go faster for more laps.
Design of the aluminum frame, suspension components and parameters has been focused on translating this broad power and reactive gases in the corners better hunt. Other goals of the’09 revisions were thin light handling and a chassis with an optimized balance of rigidity. To achieve these objectives, each party was considered or reviewed. Sections of the main spars were decreased, the head of pipe is thin and a new process was used to form the tube down, while the redesigned sub-frame is narrower even stronger.
A mixture of forged, extruded and castings, the revised dimensions of the chassis, parts and reducing the gusset new equal 1.8 pounds of weight gain and increased stability and traction through improving the rigidity balance.
Working in conjunction with the revisions is a new aluminum swing arm now pivoting from a position higher than 3 mm on the frame. The arm has a more conical with a “D” profile and new media. A longer rear suspension stroke, and thus more precise rear suspension tuning, was achieved by mounting the arm of the Uni-Trak ® rear suspension link below the arm.
In addition to the chassis balance with settings optimized for experienced riders, the KX450F the suspension offers a host of new features for better cornering and sharp handling. The Kayaba Air-Oil-separated (AOS) fork has a new Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating on the exterior surface of the interior fork tubes which offers a discount of 15 per cent in FRICTION when the fork is exposed to lateral forces that hamper slide action. The result is improved fork response, especially during cornering. The suspension of all measures is even more smooth because of reduced-friction Kashima Coat treatment within the outer surface of the fork tubes and rear shock reservoir.
The increase in rigidity in the reshaped upper triple clamp and decreases in the new fork outer tubes optimized the rigidity of the balance before the end. Adjusting the race-based suspension settings and reducing the fork offset 24 to 23mm further enhanced the new KX450F handling light and increased its front wheel traction. Expanded around the black fork tube guards provide greater protection for inner tubes.
For the good deed of the fork, the Kayaba rear shock received a new body design and greater than 50 mm piston (46 mm previously). Improving response, depreciation and low yield amounts to a better race and increase the accuracy of maneuver. It also features a Kashima Coat on the internal shock treatment. Its easily accessible dual compression setting – enabling high-speed and low speed damping to be resolved separately – gives mechanics and riders the ability to refine difficult to track conditions.
Durability improvements are not limited to internal components on the new KX450F. The larger plate protective resin, closer, more durable chain guide both offer better protection without increasing weight and are examples of the course focuses on the sustainability of improvements that abound on the new KX450F.
In addition to la’09 KX450F a stunning new look, the bodywork was completely revised with emphasis on driver comfort and ergonomics. The pilot offers an interface with a thin natural position, it is easier for riders to relax and go fast. Included in the new body style is elegant one-piece dual-injection, two-tone green and white plastic shrouds and side plates. This new body means less time with Hasslinger backgrounds and graphics and more time collecting trophies.
A new headquarters with slimmer design firm urethane, a non-slip surface and sides offer a good grip and excellent driver sitting mobility. The framework reflects the high profile thin, but widens at the lower end by the ankles to provide the pilot with better feel and control. Fill the pilot interface improvements are wider than the feet of 50 mm offers more grip and a more comfortable platform.
2009 KX450F will be available in Kawasaki Lime Green, black with alumite coated rims and aggressive graphics for a factory appearance.
Racers their trip KX450F designated events are eligible to receive the support of the team Green ™, Kawasaki amateur racing support program. Each year, Team Green provides regional support vehicles and highly skilled technicians in over 100 events, offering technical information and assistance to those who race Kawasaki products. Kawasaki also offers a possibility for amateur and professional riders who place well at designated events.
