How do you set the ehaust power valves on a 1990 kawasaki kx 125

I have taken apart the top end on a 1990 kawasaki kx 125 and had it bored and put a new piston in it and we had to take out the exhaust power valves. And we were wandering if they had to be timed or anything?? Well thanks Nathan.
